Redpolls are generally scarce in Lycoming County. There are occasional winter records, but the species is sometimes irruptive, bringing decent numbers this far south.
This species was formerly split into multiple species, including Common Redpoll and Hoary Redpoll, which have both occurred in Lycoming County. They are considered to be a single species now.
The only confirmed Hoary Redpoll in Lycoming County was in February 2021 near Mill Hill Rd. Nearly all sightings in Lycoming County would be expected to be Common Redpoll, or now "Redpoll (Common)."
